Choir Tour Starts With April 25 Concert

The 糖心vlog官网 Chamber Singers will kick off their 2019 concert tour with their annual Spring Concert on the U of O campus on Thursday, April 25.

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Munger-Wilson Chapel. There is no cost for attendance and the public is invited.

The Spring Concert is a prelude to the Chamber Singers鈥 five-event spring tour, which runs from May 19-24 at churches in Arkansas and Tennessee.

The theme for this year鈥檚 concert tour is 鈥淓 Pluribus Unum 鈥 Out of Many, One,鈥 and will feature a wide variety of music that celebrates the diversity of the United States.

鈥淒iversity has always been a part of our country and this land has always been home to immigrants,鈥 said Dr. Jonathan Ledger, choral director at U of O. 鈥淓mbedded within this message is a prayer for world peace.聽The program will be heard in its entirety for the first time at our spring concert on Thursday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m. in Munger-Wilson Memorial Chapel.鈥

The concert program will include the works, 鈥淎t the Round Earth鈥檚 Imagined Corners,鈥 by Williametta Spencer; 鈥淐herokee Traveler鈥檚 Greeting,鈥 by Kevin A. Memley; 鈥淐丑别蝉迟别谤,鈥 by William Billings; 鈥厂丑别苍补苍诲辞补丑,鈥 by James Erb; 鈥淕ive Me Your Tired, Your Poor,鈥 by Irving Berlin; 鈥淧aper Crane,鈥 by J. Reese Norris; 鈥淗辞尘别濒补苍诲,鈥 by Gustav Holst; and 鈥淟ift Every Voice and Sing,鈥 by J. Rosamond Johnson.

Adjunct music instructor Bethany Qualls will serve as the collaborative pianist during the Spring Concert as well as the tour.

Ledger said the tour is the highlight of the academic year for the Chamber Singers.

鈥淲e are excited to head east on tour for the first time this year, as we strive to strengthen relationships with potential students, churches, and alumni in central and eastern Arkansas and throughout Tennessee,鈥 he said.

The tour will include a at Kirk in the Pines Presbyterian Church in Hot Springs, Arkansas; a at First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville, Arkansas; a at Second Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee; a at Logan鈥檚 Chapel United Methodist Church in Maryville, Tennessee; and a at Holy Trinity Community Church in Nashville, Tennessee.
