Students interested in veterinary school after graduating from Ozarks prepare for a career dedicated to the health and well-being of animals by developing strong skills in the biological sciences, chemistry, and mathematics, as well as gaining an understanding of animal behavior and care. We offer students guidance in selecting coursework, experiential learning opportunities, and mentorship to help students meet veterinary school prerequisites while exploring their personal interests in animal health, wildlife conservation, or biomedical research.

Degree Outcomes

Students gain a strong academic foundation in the biological sciences, chemistry, and mathematics that supports admission to veterinary school and other graduate programs in animal or biological sciences.

Students develop skills in scientific inquiry, animal behavior, and critical thinking that prepare them for graduate study and research in animal health, biology, or related fields.

Students are equipped with the knowledge and experience needed to pursue careers in veterinary medicine, animal care, wildlife conservation, or biomedical research.

The photography minor at the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø introduces students to both the technical and creative aspects of photographic art through hands-on learning, theory, and history. Students gain skills in visual communication, artistic expression, and digital technologies that enhance creative thinking across disciplines. This minor complements a wide range of majors and prepares students for careers in fields such as fine art, commercial photography, advertising, marketing, journalism, communications, theater, and graphic design, while also providing valuable skills applicable to disciplines like biology, health sciences, and business.

A minor in Health Education and Promotion provides students with foundational knowledge in the natural sciences to understand human health, assess physiological function and dysfunction, and develop evidence-based health solutions. Students who complete the minor will have the opportunity to explore and develop health behaviors and multiple factors that influence health, theories of Health Education and Promotion, leadership skills, and a foundational anatomical understanding of the human body.

The critical thinking and collaboration developed in the minor in Health Education and Promotion adds value to other degrees by encouraging students to think directly about how multiple variables lead to health behaviors and outcomes.  

A minor in Exercise Science allows students to enhance or complement their major(s) from any LENS area to more closely align with their intended career path. The minor provides students with an introductory grounding in physiological and anatomical principles to understand how the human body responds to exercise stress and how the body changes with chronic exercise stress.

Students will develop a foundational understanding of the scientific principles of exercise and physical activity as they relate to general health, wellness, and performance.

Students can apply basic exercise science concepts within their primary field of study, enhancing their ability to promote physical well-being in diverse settings.

Students gain introductory knowledge and skills that can support future study, certifications, or careers in health, fitness, and wellness-related areas.

The Media Studies program combines theory and practical application to help students become effective speakers, articulate leaders, and eloquent storytellers. Students create media messages using industry-driven techniques and standards and practice critically analyzing the media environment we exist in as human beings and citizens.

The Media Studies program is for students interested in becoming better communicators,
creators, and drivers of their own success in media-related fields. Our classes teach the
skills and discipline needed for students to concept, produce, and successfully find an
audience for their ideas. Our professors combine professional experience with intense
academic knowledge to encourage discussion and discovery. Our alumni produce and direct
multimillion-dollar television productions, run their own media production businesses, or
pursue further understanding of media and communication through graduate programs. The
mission of our program is to create more ethically-minded, entrepreneurial storytellers who
can adapt to the needs of both the current media industry, and the future version that is still
to be written.


Besides the in-classroom experience, students can take advantage of co-curricular
opportunities by joining KUOZ Productions, the broadcast and content creation arm of the
department for more than 25 years. From their first day on campus, students can learn to
livestream campus events, create their own shows or works, or become hosts on the new
department podcast, “The Levee.â€

A Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science prepares students for a wide range of careers in fitness, health, and wellness. Graduates may pursue roles such as athletic trainers, working with athletes to prevent and treat injuries, or become exercise physiologists who assess and treat individuals with chronic diseases or disabilities through prescribed exercise for prevention and rehabilitation.

Career opportunities also include positions in corporate wellness, where professionals design and manage health programs to promote employee well-being. Some students may choose to work in sports medicine or rehabilitation, supporting individuals recovering from heart or lung conditions to improve fitness and overall health outcomes.

Additionally, this degree can serve as a foundation for becoming a physical or occupational therapist, helping individuals regain physical function, build strength and mobility, or improve their ability to perform everyday activities.

Students can function in a variety of roles within the health, fitness, and wellness industries, depending on their area of interest and specialization.

Students have the foundational knowledge and practical skills to pursue advanced study or professional certification in exercise science and related fields.

The Health Education and Promotion major is intended for students seeking careers that promote wellness in the community and the workplace. The major prepares students to directly work with individuals and communities to improve health and quality of life. Students learn how to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and oversee programs designed to improve health behaviors, create environments supportive of healthy lifestyles, and effectively communicate health issues to key stakeholders. The major prepares students to take the Certified Health Education Specialist exam from the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing. The mix of natural and social sciences in this major also provides a foundation for professional or graduate study in allied health, health management, or public health, including positions in Health Maintenance Organizations, Hospitals, Public and Private Clinics, Voluntary Health Agencies, Health Departments, and/or Health Education.

Students can choose career options in the various healthcare sectors, including working in hospital management as healthcare administrators, in government agencies such as the Department of Health, and in roles such as Health Educators or Community Health Professionals.  

Students will be prepared to test for the Certified Health Education Specialist exam, a globally recognized certification.  

Students will be prepared to pursue further education in graduate school in areas such as Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Social Work, Epidemiology, and Counseling.  

At Ozarks, the Pre-Law Program is not a major or minor. Law schools don’t require specific academic majors, and neither do we. Instead, our program is designed to help you build the core skills that matter most for success in law school and beyond: critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and exceptional oral and written communication skills.

We recommend that you major in the discipline that fascinates and challenges you the most and inspires your best work. You should also take courses that will help prepare you for the LSAT and the academic work you will encounter in law school.  Our LENS curriculum is a good fit for the academic work that will prepare you best for law school. Whether you major in Political Science, English, History, Philosophy, Biology, or any other field, the Pre-Law Program provides structure, guidance, and enrichment opportunities tailored to your legal ambitions.

Advise students about how to meet admissions requirements for law schools, of the students choosing, through coursework in courses related to Political Science, Mathematics and Philosophy, History, Sociology, Communication Studies, and more.

Equip students with foundational research skills and improved communication skills, preparing them for the demands of law school and legal practice.

The Computer Science program at Ozarks equips graduates with the tools to thrive in today’s fast-paced, technology-driven world. With a curriculum that blends technical expertise and hands-on experience, this major prepares you to tackle real-world challenges and emerge as a leader in the IT field. Our graduates are prepared for diverse roles in IT, including Systems Analyst, Network Administrator, Cybersecurity Specialist, Database Manager, and IT Project Manager.

Degree Outcomes

Graduates will demonstrate a strong foundation in core IT principles, including programming, network security, data management, and systems analysis, and be able to apply these skills to effectively solve real-world problems.

Graduates will integrate liberal arts principles such as critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and cultural awareness to develop innovative and socially responsible IT solutions for complex challenges.

Graduates will be well-prepared to pursue advanced studies or a variety of careers in the IT field, demonstrating adaptability and a commitment to lifelong learning.
